Cloudsteppers: the quick guide

Cloudsteppers is Clarks' lightweight comfort range. The shoes have a soft foam (EVA) sole and a cushioned footbed, so they're noticeably lighter than a traditional leather shoe and comfortable straight out of the box. The range covers flats, mary janes, sneakers and sandals for women, plus lace-ups for men.

Who they suit:

  • People on their feet all day, like teachers, nurses, retail and hospitality staff.
  • Travel and long walks, where every bit of weight counts.
  • Sore feet: many styles have a removable footbed, so you can use your own orthotic.

Popular Cloudsteppers styles

For women, the Solevana Step and Solevana Jane are easy everyday flats, the Ezrinn is a lightweight sneaker, and the Arla and Mira are summer sandals. For men, the Solevana Style is a light lace-up that works for travel and casual days. If you want a sportier look, browse our women's sneakers, and for a dressier look, our women's flats and loafers.

Cloudsteppers or Skechers?

Both are built for comfort. The main differences are in the details: many Cloudsteppers have leather or more structured uppers rather than knit, and lots of styles have a footbed you can take out. If your current comfort sneakers have started to feel flat, or you need room for an orthotic, Cloudsteppers are worth trying.

Will they help with plantar fasciitis?

Many people with heel and arch pain find cushioned, supportive shoes help. Look for a style with a removable footbed, so you can add an orthotic, and a firm heel that doesn't collapse when you squeeze it. If your pain is ongoing, it's worth seeing a podiatrist, who can tell you what support your feet need.

Sizing and care

Most Cloudsteppers run true to size, and the stretch-knit styles are forgiving if you're between sizes. Wipe leather pairs clean with a damp cloth and let them air dry; don't put any Cloudsteppers in the washing machine. For a dedicated men's walking shoe, see our men's walking shoes.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Cloudsteppers and other Clarks shoes?

Cloudsteppers use lightweight foam soles and soft footbeds, so they're lighter and feel comfortable straight away. Other Clarks styles use more traditional leather and rubber constructions.

Are Cloudsteppers good for plantar fasciitis?

Many people with heel and arch pain find cushioned, supportive shoes help. Choose a style with a removable footbed if you use an orthotic, and see a podiatrist if the pain keeps coming back.

Can Cloudsteppers replace Skechers?

Both are built for comfort. Many Cloudsteppers have leather or more structured uppers, and lots have a footbed you can take out, which suits orthotic wearers.

Can I put Cloudsteppers in the washing machine?

No. Wipe them clean with a damp cloth and let them air dry, as machine washing can damage the sole and glue.

Are Cloudsteppers waterproof?

No. The foam soles cope with damp ground, but the uppers aren't waterproof, so avoid heavy rain.

Can I wear Cloudsteppers to work?

Yes. Plain flats and slip-ons suit business-casual workplaces, and they're popular with people on their feet all day. Sporty styles are better for weekends.

Do Cloudsteppers run true to size?

Most do. Stretch-knit styles are forgiving if you're between sizes. Check each product page for the widths available.
